I can fit my personal AIS inside my Mustang MD3154. It is smaller than my old strobe.

Agreed they are very different.

Do you not have a automatic strobe on your PFDs. My personal AIS also has a strobe?

Do you not tether at night? Heavy weather? Offshore?

The MMSI for a personal AIS starts with 972. If you see one of those, that is a person in distress.
