They did just that on the 5800 and are a bitch to use in rough conditions, as you could imagine.

The original 40, 43, and 46 had severe davit issues, to the extent that the Moorings insisted on dinghies being towed. They were eventually re-designed as something much stronger and R&C sent a team...
