I beg to differ. Our soft bottom dinghies( with floor boards) have been planning with a 5 HP 2 stroke toting 2 people for years.

I’ve been using a 5 hp 2 stroke for 30+ years. We have a 9’6” Achilles sport boat. It planes easily with my wife and I plus groceries- my wife usually tells me to slow down. Any more would a weighty...
