Re: Yanmar “Idiot” Lights Upgrade
Not needed but nice to have. The decompression levers are mostly used when doing engine maintenance - again not necessary, just makes turning the engine by hand much easier. However they can be... |

Re: Yanmar “Idiot” Lights Upgrade
OK, here is the definitive answer. Short version - If you are using a LED for the charge warning lamp you can add a 50 ohm 5 watt resistor in parallel with the charge warning lamp. This will... |

Re: Yanmar “Idiot” Lights Upgrade
I'll get back to you latter today with a suitable (but simple) solution if you plan to use a LED with a 2QM15 stock alternator. I'm time short ATM. Does your new alternator use the same wiring and... |

Re: Yanmar “Idiot” Lights Upgrade
Short answer - It depends on the circuitry packaged with the LED. Long answer - A 'native' LED is polarity conscious and also needs a load resistor to operate on 12V. A LED sold as a 12V LED will... |

Re: Yanmar “Idiot” Lights Upgrade
While waiting for Homer to advise what he did, let me say the over temperature light and the oil pressure light can be LED. You do have to make sure they are connected the correct way as they are... |

Re: Yanmar “Idiot” Lights Upgrade
You might remember the OP is not planing to change the alternator light, only the oil and temp light. FWIW, if the OP is still using the original external regulator, this might well have a bypass... |

Re: Yanmar “Idiot” Lights Upgrade
Can't open the link here but in general, if the LED is designed for 12V operation and you get the polarity correct, then it will work. However, the devil is always in the detail and in this... |
