Re: Another dyneema line failure
DSM and Hampidjan say the color black, even in the polymer, does not have any effect on UV. DM20 has 25% more elasticity and does not heat stretch (more constructional elongation) well so we do not... |

Re: Another dyneema line failure
The chart is a linear regression of the data that we have from all over the world, including NZ,Australia, and Thailand. NZ has some of the worst UV exposure because of the hole over the south pole.... |

Re: Another dyneema line failure
See attached chart on UV life of Dyneema for standing rigging on sailboats, 12 years of data, from 34 boats now, around the world. All naked Dyneema, fully inspectable. We are replacing line on... |

Re: Another dyneema line failure
If your backstay is 11 mm 1 x 19 we would use 13 mm Dynice Dux for it. This is equivalent stretch to the 11mm 1 x 19. It also gives you, 79200 kgs of breaking strength. After 10 years in tropics... |

Re: Another dyneema line failure
It was not our rigging but Heat stretched Dyneema from another supplier. It was undersized and increasing the size for the stretch that was needed solved the issue. John Franta, Colligo Marine. |

Re: Another dyneema line failure
Any supporting data? We know of internal damage in a dynamic sheave system with high loaded shrouds that were undersized so too much elasticity but never any internal damage from harmonics in... |
