My point was a very cheap digital ammeter may only measures discharge - read the specs carefully. A not so cheap one - maybe $30 - will read charging amps too.

Yes you don't need a $200 BM.

I would respectfully suggest that neither is any good for a boat because it seems neither will measure charging current. Why have an Ah meter that only does half a job?
