With relays, be careful what youre using. Many are not designed for continuous operation (like a starter or windlass relay). Also, relays draw power in use- no fun to draw a continuous amp whenever...

Step one is to map out how big the tank actually is. It looks like the sole is plywood - somewhat poor pictures, but it looks like the aft-facing pic shows a panel ( I presume the connection access?)...

With 4p2s, you won’t be able to isolate each cell in the ‘p’, so if one cell is crapped out you can ruin the other cell….with 2p4s, you can monitor and adjust every cell in the pack.

Most likely a head gasket. Check your compression first. You can also remove the thermostat, pressurize the cylinder(s) with air, and see if you have a breeze coming from the thermostat housing....

They certainly look like classic pop rivets, probably stainless. Just use a drill bit a bit larger than the center hole to ream away the rim from the shaft - the rim should come free, then you drive...
