Re: Buying an Albin Vega tomorrow

Asmodeane, I think it is quite natural to have apprehensive feelings when laying out a significant amount of money for anything, especially a boat. Also, I'm sure you were quite comfortable with your...

Re: A Little Boat

marcodnn, Again, I don't have any first-hand experience with the Shipman 28, however I just read an owner-opinion on another forum. To sum up:

Nice looking boat from all angles. Fast,...

Re: Too Late To Start ?

Wavewacker, I didn't mean to imply that you have medical issues. I just read the OP and it sounded like you were concerned about whether or not it was too late and you said that you weren't in the...

Re: Too Late To Start ?

Wavewacker, I really believe age is relative. I have a friend who is 81 and regularly sails his catboat here in New York. He also does a lot of the work on it and I've personally witnessed him...

Re: Living Aboard in the Winter

bobofthenorth, the OP wants to live on a small sailboat in Winter in Philadelphia. I don't know whether or not his boat will have an inboard diesel, but the fact is many sail-boaters rely on outboard...

Re: A Little Boat

Pete7, O.K., I got mixed up. I thought that was a Moody 31. Well, it is a nice looking boat. I like the "knuckles" and the fact that they add room to the interior as well as the other benefits you...

Re: A Little Boat

Pete7, I'm glad you stepped in and gave your opinion because I see you are located in the UK where these boats are built and enjoy great popularity. I agree with your point about marketing convincing...

Re: Two Dead, Seven Hurt in San Diego Sailboat Accident

Thanks Capt Phil, and I hope I didn't come off as being overly defensive. I just don't want people to think I intentionally meant to downgrade the MacGregor line of boats, or any other brand or type...

Re: A Little Boat

marcodnn, I've heard some great things about the Westerly's also. Unfortunately I have no first-hand knowledge. Again, I think you can find all the info you need by searching online. Look for reviews...

Great post, Auspicious. Posts like that one are the reason I love this forum. We can learn a lot from our fellow sailors, and I certainly found your post helpful. By the way, I looked for The Warm...

Re: Two Dead, Seven Hurt in San Diego Sailboat Accident

Bash, Capt Phil, Alaska JD:

Just to clarify, there was no "change of heart". All I did was post a picture of a sailboat with a humorous caption. None of you with the possible exception of Bash...

Re: Two Dead, Seven Hurt in San Diego Sailboat Accident

webejammin - That doesn't sound so bad. I could live with that. As long as it doesn't turn into a money generating scheme at the boater's expense.

Re: Two Dead, Seven Hurt in San Diego Sailboat Accident

Unfortunately, as our waterways get more and more crowded and as the government takes control of more and more aspects of our lives, it seems that boating licenses are inevitable in all states. It's...

hah hah! that's a good one my friend! I can see the humor in that, however, there are those who enjoy a life of self-sufficiency. If you're in debt up to your eye-balls then the self-sufficient life...

Re: Living Aboard in the Winter

ssanzone, I think you meant "...the best advice to surviving the winter...". I wish it were that simple. Some of us have to work to support our sailing/boating habit. Maybe someday....

canucksailor, sounds like you used all the proper precautions. As long as you were awake while operating the unit, I see no problems. I like the idea of a oxygen depletion sensor also. The point I...

Re: Two Dead, Seven Hurt in San Diego Sailboat Accident

Great points dc9, I agree. The boat as designed is safe as long as used within it's intended parameters. That goes for any boat.

Re: 2 Dead, 7 Hurt in SD Sailboat Accident

Let me make a correction to my previous post. They are fine for people who want a trailerable water-ballasted hybrid motor-boat/sailboat. Personally I think that this is not a good compromise,...

Re: 2 Dead, 7 Hurt in SD Sailboat Accident
