Re: Greece- requirement to change "user" every 6 month on 18 month transit log?

Never heard of such rule. I am nonEU resident on a non EU flagged boat. We have been cruising Greece for the last 3 seasons. Never changed the user, only checked out once to sail to Turkey for...

Re: Back-up autopilot

A lot of good info here, thank you folks.
Regarding to set up a parallel Raymarine autopilot, I believe it would not have helped in our case.
We had some lightning damage while at anchor and some...

Back-up autopilot

We are considering to install a back-up autopilot. Our boat is a Tayana 55.
A wind vane we would not really consider, because of the davits and solar panel arc. Electric power is not a concern.
It...

Re: Sardinia Squad

Eventually they stopped us to tie the dinghy to the pier in San Paolo. We left yesterday for Golfo Aranci and are anchoring in 8 m on sand. There is a long catwalk with some ladders where one can go...

Sardinia Squad

The view from the anchorage to Isola Tavolara. From dawn to dusk dinghies are going back and forth across the bay with the occasional macho man speeding in full throttle through the anchorage. 127560...

Re: Sardinia Squad

This evening we dropped the hook in Porto Brandinchi. Looking forward to a night of good and deep sleep. The last 3 nights have been uncomfortable at the rolly anchorage in Porto Frailis

Re: Sardinia Squad

Any recommendations where to bunker diesel in North Sardegna? In Arbatrax they asked for Euro 1.52 per litre.

Re: Sardinia Squad

Just dropped anchor at Porto Frailis, across the hill from Arbatax after 35 hours from Sicily mostly under engine.
A bit rolly here, but nice view.127230

Re: Sardinia Squad

Still in Licata/Sicily and will continue along the South coast. Hopefully next week we find a weather window to sail to Sardegna. Around July 10 we plan to be somewhere close to Olbia and will cruise...

Re: Will a 2.3 HP outboard do?

I have the small Honda and it is in use most of the time. We have 2 dinghies on board: a 3.5 m RIB and a 2.5 m soft bottom. These days it is driving the big RIB, as I am just to lazy to deploy the...

Re: Sailing the Peloponnese

Depends from where to start. We are located in Kilada and I would do it counter clockwise, as later in the season the Saronic Gulf gets too much crowded for my taste. I haven't done it yet, therefore...

Re: Greece votes "NO" - impact on cruisers

In May I tried to source some spare parts in Greece, but gave up as it seems companies had already significantly reduced what was on stock. I bought them in Germany and my daughters will bring them,...

Re: Dinghy: to be or not to be - in the Med or

We are in the Med, our boat is 55ft and we have 2 dinghies. The 3.5 m RIB is on the foredeck and the small one, 2.6 m , with the Honda 2.3 hp outboard on davits. Or sometimes vice versa. Towing the...

Rusty diesel tank

Today we started to clean the diesel tanks. Port and starboard tank each have a capacity of 300 lit and the aft tank 400 lit. I pumped out 20 l from the port tank and 20 l from the after tank, which...

Re: Greece or Turkey mooring during summer, impossible?

If you fly out from Istanbul Yelova should be your choice. The ferry terminal is next to the marina where you can catch the ferry to either Istanbul or Tuzla, depending which airport you choose. Last...

Re: Port procedures when changing ownership and flag while in Tunisia

If you are in Port Yasmine, just go to the customs office in the marina and ask them. From my experience they have been always very helpfull.
