Re: OpenCPN Radar Overlay PlugIn

(quoted from page 7 in this thread)

Pete - if you still follow this thread; I'm curious, did you get any closure on this issue?

I'm asking because I just encountered something interesting that...

Re: OpenCPN Radar Overlay PlugIn

Hi Pete,

I'm using the BR24Radar_pi on 64 bit Ubuntu, it works great here.

Do you get something similar to the following (repeatedly) in opencpn.log?

Re: Feature Requests

As far as I know, the fixed-depth contours are based (at least traditionally) on a different surveying method than the spot soundings - and thus have an inherently much higher "resolution", if you...

Re: osm_pi - OpenSeaMap plugin for OpenCPN

My guess is that the 0,0 pixel (upper-left corner) in the icon bitmap is positioned on the actual coordinates, thus the icon will be drawn in a - say - 32x32px square extending down and to the right...

Re: OpenCPN Radar Overlay PlugIn

Cool! Quite thrilled to see the investment paying off - certainly getting more bang for my couple hundred bucks than I would have buying off-the-shelf stuff... ;)

A feature I have seen in a few...

Re: Navico BR24 Radar - Open Source protocol implementation

I was planning to buy a Navico radar during a visit to the US, but the trip has been postponed indefinitely. The price of these things here in Europe doesn't make me all warm and fuzzy about forking...

Re: Feature Requests

+1

First, let us not forget that OpenCPN is an open source project. Development is being done in people's spare time, because they enjoy it and see a value in contributing.
Therefore, it is...

Re: Navico BR24 Radar - Open Source protocol implementation

Fantastic!
It should be easy for Dave to also implement the already reverse-engineered Navico protocol as well, then.

Re: OpenCPN Window Minimizes in WIN7

This sounds vaguely familiar - I may have seen it happen with OpenCPN on a Windows machine. I'm not sure my memory isn't playing tricks with me, though.

Re: Navico BR24 Radar - Open Source protocol implementation

I think we all agree that a radar plug-in for OpenCPN should eventually support as many scanners as possible, including Navico "3G", "4G", Koden and Furuno's Ethernet radars, and so on.

When/if...

Re: Feature Requests

What about just changing the icon on the toolbar button according to status? A red dot in one corner of the button = tracking on, or something similar.
Should be very clear and hard to miss, and...

Some of you might be familiar with the Roboat (https://www.roboat.at) project. Here are a couple of Austrian guys building an autonomous sailboat, and deciding that they need a good radar input for...
