Might Mite 2hp outboard

Might be a long shot but anyone here work on a 1980s Might Mite 2hp outboard? I just found one cheap and grabbed it. It is running but is leaking fuel/oil somewhere from the crank case. I think...

Re: Broke head off bolt.....need advice

As an alternate to cooling the bolt with ice get a can of compressed air. Use the straw applicator and spray the bolt with the can upside down. It will chill it very quickly.

Re: Broke head off bolt.....need advice

If you have to end up drilling it make sure you pick up left hand drill bits and extractors. I had this happen with a couple of bolts on my Volvo. Left hand bits were great as they ended up...

Re: Tohatsu 8hp Problems. What's your diagnosis?

Pull a plug, is it oily?

If you overfill the crankcase the oil will foam and get up the PCV and foul the plug(s). I had this happen with my SailPro. This can also happen if the engine is stored...

Re: Engine very rough at low rpms - why?

Seconding this suggestion of loosening the fuel line to each injector one at a time to see what change happens with the engine. It should obviously shake much more when you open a firing injector but...

Re: LPG outboard on small 30 ft sailboat

From a BTU perspective a gallon of LPG has roughly the same energy content as 1.35 gallons of gasoline. LPG is about 84,000 BTUs and gasoline is 114,000 BTUs.

Propane burns with less byproducts...

Re: Small Outboard (on a sailboat over 30')

Have you seen this? (https://atomvoyages.com/articles/improvement-projects/257-tritonsalty-1.html)

Don't know if the Viking 33 has room in the back for that though. On my Sabre the rudder was in...

Re: Small Outboard (on a sailboat over 30')

You can see the restrictor on the parts sheet for the engines.

Yes, they are all lean burn.

Definitely heavy. It was...

Re: Small Outboard (on a sailboat over 30')

Suzuki took their existing 9.9hp engine, extended it to 25"s, put a different gear case on it (to clear the big prop) and then put the large prop on it and called it a high thrust unit. That the...

Re: Propellor for charging batteries using electric motor

I'm out of bulk for 5 hours of the charging day. Like I said, it is keeping up.

Most manufacturers rate their panels by peak output. I've never seen one specified in amp hours by a...

Re: Propellor for charging batteries using electric motor

Look at max PV output. It averages 69w.

You can't calculate the panels output based just on the yield, unless you are in bulk charge the entire day. Yield depends upon need. If there is no need...

Re: Propellor for charging batteries using electric motor

Where does this number come from? I have a $110 Renogy 100w panel on my boat. It is 4 years old and I am regularly seeing it put out more than 50% of its rating. I recently swapped to a Victon charge...

Re: Small Outboard (on a sailboat over 30')

The Yamaha has a bigger prop but it is pitched higher (7") and only 3 blades. The Suzuki is 4 blades and a 5" pitch.

The Suzuki also has more than a 50% increase in displacement (327cc vs 212cc)...

Re: 4 stroke or 2 stroke

When I had a Sailpro the longer tiller might have interfered on my boat. The relocated shifter would have been fantastic though. Its original placement was a pain. On my Sabre I have remote controls,...

Re: 4 stroke or 2 stroke

Originally that was the case but now Tohatsu offers the "Sailpro" in both 20" and 25" shafts. The "Sailpro" models have a high thrust prop and 6amp alternator as standard on the engine.

Re: Sick Outboard Diagnosis ... Help!

If your plugs are wet I'd look into the float/needle valve more. I suspect it isn't shutting off fuel flow.

With your fuel tap closed remove the bowl from your carb. Put a cup or pan under the...
