Re: Best Marina in the Caribbean?

Wow h20! That's an extensive list. Lobster pots too. That's making me drool.

Re: Best Marina in the Caribbean?

Something about 40 feet. Maybe a center cockpit ketch. I've always liked ketches, but I've never owned one.

Best Marina in the Caribbean?

Hi everyone. I have a problem. I sold my boat about 4 years ago and ever since I've been afflicted with an incurable condition of boatitis. It keeps trending worse, so I've finally come up with a...

Re: What Kind of Prop Is this ?

No, I definitely have used it. It was on a mooring, I took a launch to the boat when I wanted to use it. The marina towed it to the dock for the haul out.

Re: What Is this on the Bottom of My Boat ?

I was concerned about the zincs being gone, I just didn't know since I hadn't yet seen the underside of the boat. Over the course of the past year, the boat seemed to have less and less power. I...

Re: What kind of prop is this?

It was on a mooring, so it would be a pretty large circle to check, and unfortunately the mooring has since been pulled, so I wouldn't even know where to start now.

What Is this on the Bottom of My Boat ?

I pulled the boat for the winter (this is the first haul out since I've owned the boat), and I found this under the waterline (my hand is for scale). What is this, and what is it for?

What Kind of Prop Is this ?

Some background:
I was going to sail south for the winter, but when I arrived at the boat and started the engine (for which I had to overcome some unexpected obstacles), I put the engine in gear,...

Re: NYC to DC Down Past the Jersey Shore

Hopefully from no lack of response, no one assumed that I had drowned. I haven't. I went to take the boat down the coast, but when I arrived I discovered several problems with the boat. For one...

Re: NYC to DC Down Past the Jersey Shore

Good advice. I've been thinking that I should not take the ICW route because I really don't want to run aground, or have to be dependent on using the engine when traversing narrow channels. ...

NYC to DC Down Past the Jersey Shore

I'm planning on sailing my Morgan 35 from New York to Washington DC at the end of the summer season; probably late September or early October. The prospect of the trip has me a bit nervous. I've...

Re: How Do I Change My Oil ?

Thanks for all of the advice. I have attempted to change the oil. I was going to try putting a pan under and draining it, then maybe a banjo bolt. See photo of the oil pan, there is absolutely no...

Re: Mounting the Outboard ?

I actually did it on my sloop with the boom and the main sheet. It wasn't as hard as I had envisioned. The engine probably is only 50 lbs. I banged it about a bit and pulling it over the lifeline...

Re: How Do I Change My Oil ?

Yeah, I guess I'll just have to see if I can reach underneath and find a drain plug. I stuck my camera under the engine and tried to take a photo, but that didn't show a drain plug. I assume there...

Re: How Do I Change My Oil ?

Rich,

I think the dipstick was busted off and sealed over because of the clearance issue with the metal beams on either side of the engine, to which the engine is mounted.

I might be able to...

Re: Mounting the outboard?

Yeah, It's probably closer to 50 lbs, but I still don't like the idea of having a halyard attached to the mast head at one end and the outboard engine at the other end. The halyard won't be holding...

Re: How Do I Change My Oil ?

Yes, very hard to utilize. The drain plug, if there even is one, is totally hidden from view. And only about 6 inches above the bilge water/hull when the bilge is pumped out as much as possible. ...

Re: How Do I Change My Oil ?

The engine is a Westerbeke 40. I found this diagram (see attached) from a manual, showing where the dip stick is supposed to be, but it simply isn't there. It's hard to see, but there's a glob of...

Re: Mounting the outboard?

But if I use a halyard and a winch, won't it be hoisted right up alongside the mast? Then if I pull the engine over to the stern and loose hold of it I'll have a 100 lb pendulum? I must be...

How Do I Change My Oil ?

I have an inboard diesel, probably about 30 hp. I figure changing the oil would be beneficial, but I cant figure out how to do it. Once the oil is out I can dump the new oil in the oil cap on top...

I actually just bought one of these boats last summer. I was fortunate enough to find an old owner's manual online:

I like the boat. It's my first, so I'm...

Just to be sure I'm understanding you correctly, are you suggesting that I attach the main halyard to the clew end of the boom, cleat off the other end, then use the main sheet and blocks to hoist...

Placing My Own Mooring ?

My boat spent all last summer on a 400 lb mooring, which I own. At the end of the summer I paid someone to remove the mooring, and I was planning on paying to have the mooring placed again in the...
