Re: Drone footage of Tartan 37 sailing the Columbia River
Hi Ocean Girl. We've chatted before. That would be Tigger! A famous boat among us T37 sailors. I have Sharon's book on the bookshelf on Betty Lou. Wow, 1943! That was the golden age of... |

Re: Drone footage of Tartan 37 sailing the Columbia River
Im not the videographer, but I do know that he was using a very high-end model with a 4k video camera to get the results he wants. The drone alone was about $10k, with the camera adding another few... |

Re: Drone footage of Tartan 37 sailing the Columbia River
Thanks. New sails made by a local sailmaker Dale Waagmeester. Main is fully battened and loose footed, which really helps with shape. I have a good crew, but the reef in the big genny makes the... |

Re: Drone footage of Tartan 37 sailing the Columbia River
Totally agree, Macblaze. So many similarities. Both sailing and climbing are all about using skills and technology to travel through a hostile environment in safety and relative comfort. I still do a... |

Re: Drone footage of Tartan 37 sailing the Columbia River
The drone was flown by an operator onshore at Sand Island. He had a spotter who's job is to keep the boat and drone in sight so that the pilot can focus on the video feed from the drone. At times we... |

Re: Windvane steering on a cluttered stern
I have an Alpha 3000 on my Tartan 37 Betty Lou, and I agree that it is a great, simple, trouble-free pilot. I've got hundreds of miles cruising off the Washington coast with the Alpha, and she's... |
