Re: Do you lock your prop or let it spin?

I have a 2006 393 and at low speeds I let it spin in neutral to keep the speed up. But when speed gets over 7 knots I lock(reverse gear) it up to stop vibration and wear

Re: When is a dinghy to old?

The glue has a life span even well stored.

10-15 years hypalon glue

Pvc glue 5-10 years.

Welded pvc would maybe be as long as the material was ok.

That has been my experience so far.

Re: Solar Boost 200E Stopped Working

I hope you have a multimeter with a dc clamp amp measurement. Use after you've checked all terminations.

Use your multimeter under full load or fault conditions at the controller,

Re: Isolation Transformer-- Does Anybody Use One?

A galvanic isolator and earth leakage device cover most of the issues.

If your going around the world and want to be able to plug into 230 and 110 then the isolation transformer is a great idea...

Re: When is an oversized anchor too much?

39ft 7ton on a 60# Manson supreme, living on anchor 3 years no dragging, but nothing over 50knots yet.

Green stuff?

I was asked by a client today if this green stuff is from stray currents?

70s timber trawler and the picture is of the stuffing box.

Is this normal corrosion? Is there a solution?

Re: Leopard 42 - Alternator exciter circuit woes

What type of alternator is it?

Yes a faulty bulb will stop your alternator. Replace bulb then if that does not work you are on the next stage of diagnostics
