What about in small, light, folding trimarians. Like a Trailer Tri 720? Any advice for novice multihull sailors on the North Atlantic? (We just sail along the coast of Nova Scotia)

I hear ya. They are pretty pricey as is most safety gear. As far as I know immersion suits that don't pass inspections are destroyed, so you won't find any that way.
The CG does sell surplus...

If anyone is looking for experience with controlling your body in cold water a polar bear dip can be a good way to experience that under relatively controlled...

I don't have an exhaustive list to recommend as I'm actually just starting to do that research myself for my future live-aboard.
The ones we use on ship are the Mustang ocean commander line. ...

I dissagree. I'm an officer in the Canadian Coast Guard and we do drills with immersion suits every month. They are designed for anyone to be able to don one in 30 seconds or less. You should have...
