Re: Urgent help needed to recover abandoned yacht NW Barbados

From where I left it to the next AIS ping it had travelled 64 nm in 2 days on a 316' track so if it carried on that heading, it's within 300nm NE of Antigua. If the drouge lines have chaffed through...

Re: Urgent help needed to recover abandoned yacht NW Barbados

We abandoned 16'31.92N 52'38.87W 21/12 1200utc
Last AIS position 17'15.56N 53'28.76W 23/12 1200utc

After 11 days of drifting I think it's in the area

Re: Urgent help needed to recover abandoned yacht NW Barbados

I know the longer I leave it the bigger the search area becomes. I wanted to go straight back out as soon as we reached shore. I couldn't find anyone that was willing to take me out tho

Re: Urgent help needed to recover abandoned yacht NW Barbados

To sail on the geni alone, if only it was that easy. Tried that, didn't work. Nothing would work in those conditions.

Re: Urgent help needed to recover abandoned yacht NW Barbados

With days to think about it, there's a lot of thing I wished I'd have done before I left the boat. Hindsight is a wonderful thing

Re: Urgent help needed to recover abandoned yacht NW Barbados

Mate the sail was left up with 2 reefs in because the main sheet snapped, the lazy jacks snapped and in my opinion with the conditions at the time it was too dangerous to try and get the sail down....
