Re: Small Sailboats - Trailering
The O'Days in those sizes are still trailerable. The 26 has an 8' beam, the 27 is 9' |

Re: Small Sailboats - Trailering
Later model 23 O'Days have much more civilized cabins than the 22 Catalina. Very easy to spend a weekend on, and are still trailerable. If you go larger you can still trailer many 27's but stepping... |

Re: O'Day 23 Bluewater Sailable ?
Having owned and sailed the O'Day 23 for years it is a perfectly fine boat to sail up the coast from Florida to Maine if desired. I wouldn't go deep blue but staying within 5 miles of shore is a non... |

Re: Pro/Con of outboard for blue water cruising
Sounds accurate I have the 8HP 4 stroke Tohatsu on my 23 Oday. I came up with 4 hours per gallon at 5kts. This is just barely above idle and matches your 20 mile finding |

Re: Pro/Con of outboard for blue water cruising
My 8HP 4 stroke uses about 1 gallon every 4 hours pushing my 23 Oday along at 5kts. Electric start Quiet - keeps cabin quiet even when motoring Alternator - charges battery Fuel efficient - keep... |

Re: inboard vs. outboard for cruising
My thoughts exactly. The cabin remains usable even when motoring underway. My 23 Oday has an 8.9HP 4 stroke that sips gas and has an alternator that charges the batteries. It pushes it along at hull... |
