Re: Customizing rigging toggle

Thanks. There is only top black marker line. Everything else is a reflection
Also, adding a toggle would obviously require adjustment at the bottom i.e. cutting extension plates

Re: Customizing rigging toggle

Now I remember considering a strap. Unfortunately 5/8 + 1/4 + 1/4 = 9/8 = 28.6 mm and the gap between the masthead jaws is only 17.5 mm. It has to be eye that goes into the mast

Re: Customizing rigging toggle

Thanks. Wire is 5/16 which probably a bit oversized for a 38ft 14000 pounds boat. This is another issue I was trying to deal with while mast is down. But 1/4 would be barely adequate with no margin,...

Re: Customizing rigging toggle

The eye of the toggle would not go in deep enough into mast jaws to match existing holes in the jaws. I would need another 5 mm or so hence the idea of machining the toggle a bit. Thanks.

Customizing rigging toggle

Greetings, my headstay has no toggle at the top and swaged eye is pinned directly to jaws at the mast top. I was advised to install a toggle. I quickly discovered that no 5/8 (current pin size)...

Re: Plastic thruhull and Sika-291i

Ok, just to keep this going. How about common notion "hand tighten, come back tomorrow and make another 1/2, 1/4 whatever turns"?
Also, what is to be used on hose barb thread to be screwed into the...

Re: Plastic thruhull and Sika-291i

Let me summarize this lively discussion.
1. Sika 291i is fine to install Tru-design fittings below water. Which is great
because it's a bit cheaper than 3M and there were some cases where

Plastic thruhull and Sika-291i

If I use Sika-291i to install Tru-design thruhull + ball valve on FG below water do I need to pre-treat surface with one of their aktivators? If yes, which one? They don't really say anywhere....

Re: wrong application for 4200?

Sorry to bring some bad news. In my admittedly limited experience, it's impossible to seal area under the wooden toerail. It will leak, water will accumulate under the wood, leak through failed...

Re: Gobius C - Is It Really This Bad?

Finally installed it. Big disappointment. It requires significant clearance at the top of the tank. If the connector was sideways there could have been 1cm less needed. But most of all the software...

Re: Gobius C - Is It Really This Bad?

I installed Gobius Pro three sensors last year. Works great although a bit bulky. Bought the "C" last fall. Software is crap indeed. It is some kind of weird Web app that runs on the phone. Since...

Re: Removing portlight lens

The first prize goes to double u. There is indeed a very tightly fit cap on the inside and self-tapping screw under it. Kudos to Lewmar tech support as well who even sent me drawing of how it's all...

Re: Removing portlight lens

Yes, I googled a bit before posting. Nothing is telling me how to undo bottom knobs. Hinges have nuts, so they should be OK. Notice I don't want to replace the entire porthole assembly, which is in...

Re: Raymarine element S 9": disappointment

In change of approach I called the repair shop. The technician helped to identify the issue which turned out to be the Navionics SD card indeed. The chart is fine now. In retrospect the first time...

Re: Installing Trudesign seacocks

I'm sure there are no issues. The question is if you ever can take it apart. The only purpose of this effort would be fix/change something and re-use some or preferably all parts. Think of changing...

Just went over some discussions on subject of seacock installation. OK, those Trudesigns are ball valves, I get it. The question still is what do I use for sealing? There are 3...

Re: Replacing lens on old Lewmar hatch

Thanks everyone. How do I remove the hinges? Just unscrew from the glass? Also, those caps over the handles, are they supposed to pop out?
