Re: Cove Stripe Identification?

Yes, that photo shows the ends of the cove stripes well! It looks from the brochures on cncphotoalbum.com that the boat in the original posts is one of the early C&C 27s with the two cabin windows...

Re: Cove Stripe Identification?

Not a Sabre--they have the stylized "S" on their cove stripe. Not a Tartan--they have the Tartan shield thingy. I could believe a C&C 27--I can't find any good photos of their cove stripe, but the...

Cove Stripe Identification?

Two part question:

1. There used to be an online guide from Good Old Boat that had photos of the bow and stern ends of cove stripes that could be used to identify boats. The page now produces a...

Bug Report: Arrow key scrolling not working in Track Properties dialog

I noticed a problem in OpenCPN 4.4 that was not present in 4.2. If you open the Track Properties dialog (for example, by right-clicking on a track and selecting Properties...) and click on one of...

Re: Reading Object Query TXTDSC information?

Thanks for that link! So I see from a search of that site that this feature was already requested way back in 2013. I guess it's not very high priority...

Oh well, at least it's possible to GET...

Reading Object Query TXTDSC information?

When I do an Object Query on an item on a chart, the last line in the object listing is frequently TXTDSC: <filename>.TXT.

For example see this shot of an Object Query dialog:

The...

Re: Using "Send to GPS" to send via IP?

Hey Muttnik,

The menu on the Simrad had a couple of things that make me hopeful. They are:

Settings | Network | NMEA2000 | Receive Waypoint
Settings | Network | NMEA0183 | Receive...

Re: Using "Send to GPS" to send via IP?

The dialog that "Send to GPS" in the Route Manager brings up is identical to the one brought up by the context menu when I right-click a waypoint and selected "Send to GPS". In both cases, the only...

Using "Send to GPS" to send via IP?

I'm trying to send waypoints from OpenCPN to my Simrad NSS8 GPS/Chartplotter via IP. I don't have an RS-232 connection. I have tried using the "Send to GPS" function, but there are no entries in...

Re: Rebuild Texture Cache causes crash in OpenCPN 4.0

I have attached is the .log.log file. The log just kicked over last night, so I think .log will be too recent and not do you much good.

I set OpenGLExpert=1 and saw the setting for Texture...

Re: Rebuild Texture Cache causes crash in OpenCPN 4.0

I have played around a bit more with OpenGL settings on both my desktop and laptop PCs just to see what the results are. Here's what I have found so far:

DESKTOP PC
My desktop PC has OpenCPN...

Re: Rebuild Texture Cache causes crash in OpenCPN 4.0

The performance is similar with both versions: until the cache is built, both are quite slow when doing large zoom/pan operations; after the cache is built they are both fine. The problem I'm...

Re: Rebuild Texture Cache causes crash in OpenCPN 4.0

For what it's worth, the crash seems to happen whenever another application is switched to the foreground and OpenCPN loses the focus. I've let the cache rebuild run in the foreground for the last...

Re: Rebuild Texture Cache causes crash in OpenCPN 4.0

Thanks, Dave. In the meantime, I need to get back to a release that works for me. 3.3.2222 worked for me, and I still have the installer. Can I just run the 3.3.2222 installer over my existing 4.0...

Re: Rebuild Texture Cache causes crash in OpenCPN 4.0

I tried that, and it ran for about 20-30 minutes, switching charts by itself, and then it crashed again.

Rebuild Texture Cache causes crash in OpenCPN 4.0

In preparation for our spring cruise I downloaded the latest versions of NOAA RNC charts and OpenCPN 4.0. When I first started OpenCPN, it was painfully slow panning and zooming so I decided to...

Sorry, I'm not sure I see the relevance of how good or bad your cellphone apps are to the discussion of implementing an ActiveCaptain plug-in to OpenCPN. Apples and oranges and all that. I think it...

I have been eagerly awaiting this feature, too! When planning trips right now I have to switch back and forth between OpenCPN and ActiveCaptain.com, and it's less than ideal. Sometimes I don't have...

Re: OpenCPN 3.3.2222 "Not Responding" when zooming

I've been using OpenCPN pretty heavily since building the texture cache, and have had no hangs at all. That was the problem!

I will have to remember to rebuild the texture cache the next time I...

Re: OpenCPN 3.3.2222 "Not Responding" when zooming

I haven't done a full cache build before, so I will let that run a while and see what happens. The problem occurs when I am doing a fast zoom out to very small scales, dragging the chart to a place...

Re: OpenCPN 3.3.2222 "Not Responding" when zooming

I have tried "Texture Compression with Caching" both on and off and it didn't seem to help. I have let it run for 30 minutes or more to see if the program would ever recover, and it never did.

The Not Responding hang when zooming seems to happen only when Use Accelerated Graphics (OpenGL) is checked. Unfortunately, if I don't use OpenGL, I can't read the screen. Also, FWIW, I am zooming...

OpenCPN 3.3.2222 "Not Responding" when zooming

I just started having a problem with OpenCPN 3.3.2222 freezing while zooming in and out. The title bar says "Not Responding" and Task Manager shows OpenCPN using 100% of one of the CPUs.

This...
