Make your own charts
Sorry for beeing out of touch, I guess this topic has been covered many times… I need to survey an area and produce a private sea chart that can be read by OpenCPN. In the past there was a... |

Re: Use two cables in parallell to double area?
See extract from AWG on Wikipedia below: As stated in the thread, AWG 2 is 33.6 mm^2 (which I rounded of to 35 mm^2). In the metric system this way of writing (mm^2) means "length*length" which... |

Re: Use two cables in parallell to double area?
A big thanks to all of you. I think my original summary in post #3 holds. I did indeed refer to square mm (and not diameter) and used the Nigel Calder conversion table to compare it to AWF size... |

Use two cables in parallell to double area?
Is this the right sub forum for this discussion? I was thinking of using two 35 mm^2 (AWG 2) in parallell to get a total of 70 mm^2 to use in a windlass installation since I have the cable from... |

Re: Bow anchor box design 42 ft sail yacht
Nice! Thanks. So they let the chain slide down the side of the hull. I did not dare to try that. I thought the chain needed a foot of free fall below the deck. Also the Anchorlift motor prefered... |

Re: Bow anchor box design 42 ft sail yacht
Thanks for your comments! The space is very tight so the only option is a custom made hatch. I am not worried about structural integrity, there is a bulkhead just aft of the hatch, and I will make... |

Re: Bow anchor box design 42 ft sail yacht
Thanks for all good info. The anchorlift winch seemed like a good economical choice after looking around on a boat fair in Stockholm 8-9 years ago, and when I found two identical winches on a sale... |
