Re: Mooring depth and waves

Yes, I am going through the permit process. The mooring is near the Mala boat ramp, and is selected in an area near other sailboats, so I'm not expecting any major issues. I'm hoping to have it...

I am having two manta-ray anchors...

Mooring depth and waves

I am looking at having a mooring set off the coast. I have had a spot surveyed and checked out. The mooring ball will be set with a system that should be able to handle 2x the mass of my vessel.

Re: Sea Anchor Size

I read that too big can lead to the chute collapsing. This true?

I'll have to settle for best quality within budget. But I did find some military parachutes in excellent condition.

Re: Sea Anchor Size

Thanks Jacknest,

I did quite a bit of googling, but like I mentioned that I keep seeing conflicting information.

I like the 2x the boats displacement rule. So that puts my parachute size...

Re: Any Unique Solo Circumnavigation Records Left?

Looked that up. Has some merit in terms of a Mars Analog. He didn't do the whole thing solo, as he knocked his girlfriend up and they decided to pull her of f the ship 1/4 way through.

If I were...

Any Unique Solo Circumnavigation Records Left?

Hello,

I'm looking into taking a year or more stint to go sailing in the near future. I think having a driving force, like setting some kind of record, would be good thing to have.

I'm looking...

Re: Conversion to Electric Motor

I don't see why this is such a difficult topic. After spending three weeks driving a Neon leaf all over Oahu with zero issues with recharging and spending zero dollars on gas, I am totally sold on...

Re: Conversion to Electric Motor

Idea is to be self sufficient and not use the diesel engine unless I have to. As for CO2 emissions manufacturing, by that logic then nothing will ever change because the demand for green energy won't...

Hello,

I am interested in getting rid of my 35 HP diesel engine in my sailboat and swapping for an electric of around the same power.

Re: New Sailor, some Questions for you

Thanks for that. I was thinking about joining a race team to learn. I'm in Ko Olina, so should be able to go to one of them. Hoping there is a team in my marina, that would make it lots easier.

Re: New Sailor, some Questions for you

Thanks, I might check it out. I got a couple nice books on the go. The 'Dummies' series can be an excellent starting point for some topics. I've never really clicked with any I've tried to read tho....
