Re: Cheapest liveaboard cities of the USA?

Newport, Oregon has two marinas. The Embarcadero is managed by a private company; South Beach Marina is through the Port of Newport. I have been at SB Marina for 3 years. By paying for my slip...

Thank you, everyone! You have given me a lot of information I can check into and have saved me quite a bit of time of research. I appreciate your responses and input very much.

Re: Friendliest marinas in Florida?

I have lived at my current marina for 3 years. My dock has gone downhill in the past year. There is always some kind of drama that requires calling the police. The port has done little to eliminate...

Re: Friendliest marinas in Florida?

This is good to know. It gets below freezing here every winter and occasionally snows. Not much, but enough to make things icy on the dock. I'm ready for warmth. For me, that would be anything above...

Re: Friendliest marinas in Florida?

Yes, it's the weekender sport fishermen I'm referring to who have no tolerance for us who are on sailboats.

Re: Friendliest marinas in Florida?

Anywhere coastal with a marina. It's not my final destination, but perhaps a 6 month stay to complete preparations on my boat.

Re: Friendliest marinas in Florida?

Thank you! As an afterthought, I should add that I am a single female. I'm glad you mentioned that. I'm currently in a marina that is 90% fishing vessels, and the fishermen here have no qualms about...

Friendliest marinas in Florida?

I'm hoping to get a variety of responses. Which are the friendliest marinas for liveaboards in Florida? I'm getting ready to haul across the country with my boat, and I don't have a preference yet...

Re: Giving up the ranch in Colorado and moving to a live aboard sailboat in the Keys

Life is meant to be an adventure. I've done the same thing you're about to do, Bill. Except I left Woody Creek, CO and became a liveaboard on the central Oregon Coast. Now I'm ready to head to...

Re: Keep Current Boat or Buy Another in Caribbean?

After seeing the estimate on shipping my boat to Florida, it would definitely be to my advantage to sell my boat here in Oregon and find something else in Florida.

Thank you for all of your...

Re: Keep Current Boat or Buy Another in Caribbean?

Thank you, everyone! Your input is extremely valuable and important to me. I'm not married to this boat, so it's certainly not a problem to sell it and look for another. If I did keep it and truck it...

Keep Current Boat or Buy Another in Caribbean?

I'm brand new to Cruisers Forum, although I've been a liveaboard on the Central Oregon coast for almost three years. My question is whether I should keep my 30' Catalina and sail to retirement in the...
