After a lot of hard working and trying, Jesper found the source of the problem. It was smthng wrong with the location settings in win7 that was preventing the program to run normally. Now it works...

Reinstalled in safe mode...nothing changed...
I am running out of ideas. I think I'm gonna try with ubuntu...now there is a way to install it in windows installer...maybe it will work under liux...

I've followed your instructions step by step, and now i see the same thing with some variations. The file is renamed into ''opencpn.log'' and the content is the same as before...
