that makes great sense I am just going by the book for the VHF it actually says that if connected to a chartplotter via nmea out when a DSC is recieved it will display on plotter other than that... |

thanks my biggest issue was getting it wired then finding out that open CPN would not know what to do with the data from the radio. heck I wouldn't even mind it not working after I wired it if it... |

well lol I don't mind running wires or that just hate doing something it there is no real benefit oh and connecting a gps to the radio is on the list anyway I am just waiting for it to arrive. oh... |

ok now that I think everything has settled down I just have a simple question if I run the nmea wires down to the nav PC and use the radio GPS will OpenCPN have any idea what to do with the DSC call... |

ok thanks and the radio asfar as I can tell has nmea0183 output wasn't sure they manual has it word that when a DSC call is recieved the location will be marked on chartplotter so I wasn't sure if... |

I considered spliting what I have but my current gps is a USB puck that connects to the pc based chartplotter I wasn't sure if cracking it open and tagging on to the serial wire was a good idea ... |

thanks for the suggestion but I have no interest in features I simply need a recommendation on a GPS receiver no screen or anything as it will simply be connected to the NEMA in port on my marine... |
