Re: Thunderstorm While Coastal Cruising. What do you do?

That's completely a different thing. I don't want big brother to be judge and make a ruling. I am talking about letting the people that are active in the thread decided when it should be closed...

Re: A good surveyor does not guarantee a good survey

My friends and I have come to the conclusion that my surveyor was the previous owner's brother-in-law. He had to be to have omitted so many obvious problems.

Re: Thunderstorm While Coastal Cruising. What do you do?

It would be cool to have a feature (not that hard to make actually) that if a certain percentage of people that have participated in a thread choose to close it it gets closed.

I think it would...

Re: Another dumb DSC VHF question

For my AIS I just sent them the web link to my registration and they accepted that.

Re: Beneteua Head

I agree with all that. I swapped my forward head to electric, but will keep the aft one manual. I wish it was the other way around (for guests) but I had a lot less space in the aft head to re-fit.

Re: Another dumb DSC VHF question

I dealt with Industry Canada and not the FCC, but they gave me mine over the phone right away and then put the docs in the mail later.

Scan the docs when you get them for safe keeping, you will...

Re: NOAA Drones Busting Boaters

Peeing over the side is legal. What is not legal would be like peeing into a bucket and then shooting that over.

Indecent exposure is a risk though if you are in a populated area.

Re: Beneteua Head

I actually have a ball-valve installed in front of my joker valve.
I also have a second joker valve higher up between the tank and the Y-Valve.
And still I need to change mine regularly if I...

Re: Another dumb DSC VHF question

It will work just fine without one.

But selective calling aside, my guess is you have a "SOS" button. Nice idea to have you MMSI number programmed in, just in case you ever need it. You also...

Re: Thunderstorm While Coastal Cruising. What do you do?

At this point in the thread it's just a bunch of boat guys shooting the bull around. :)
Would be a lot nicer with a beer in our hands in someone's cockpit.

Re: Thunderstorm While Coastal Cruising. What do you do?

A very typical SW Florida Afternoon Storm. This one at anchor showing the boat that hit me. I pulled a guy out of the water that was floating past me towards the inlet. He was chasing after his...

Re: Thunderstorm While Coastal Cruising. What do you do?

Not required, but my condolences just the same. My wife lost a child and I know how much it can affect someone. Peace.

Re: Thunderstorm While Coastal Cruising. What do you do?

The real reason I took the pic is a friend and I keep trading wind speed, hull speed and storm pics/video with each other. I would prefer not to be the winner in that game :)

He is a much more...

Re: Thunderstorm While Coastal Cruising. What do you do?

I'm not sure how deserved it is, but she does have blind faith in my ability. Most likely from her inability. When we talk about that specific storm it's funny since at one point I did look down...

Re: Thunderstorm While Coastal Cruising. What do you do?

To the original poster. I also (as you can see in my photo) prefer to stay headed into the wind. Its the most comfortable position for my boat. I have also seen the wind clock all the way around...

Re: Thunderstorm While Coastal Cruising. What do you do?

It usually starts off with some concern. Then a little fear. And once everything is going smoothly despite all mother nature is sending at me I relax a little bit and go with the flow. Once it has...

Re: Thunderstorm While Coastal Cruising. What do you do?

I'm not trying to brag at all. What I am trying to demonstrate is the winds can pick up tremendously in very little time. These summer storms do not last very long. Usually they are over in 30...
