CU-100 Cold Machine evaporator

We liveaboard a 90' Hunter 42 Passage with a CU-100 Cold Machine for the refrigerator, it has been working great for the last 3 years, but recently it decided to quit cooling. I have used the information on Kollmann's web page to first do non destructive testing and then bought gauges and it seems I have a restriction in the evaporator. I then bought a vacuum pump and evacuated the system and tried to recharge it but I end up with a vacuum on the low side no matter what I do.

Since it seems I have to replace the evaporator, has anyone increased the evaporator size when doing this? Would this improve cooling? I also want to install some small fans to direct airflow across the evaporator. I've already done this in my freezer and it helped it maintain a more even temp across the entire volume. I saw that there is a VD-15 evaporator with a built in fan, has anyone used this unit? Does it come with the quick connect fittings?

Thanks in Advance!

Re: CU-100 Cold Machine evaporator

I have yet to install my Cold Machine so I'm not much help.

There quite a few threads on troubleshooting the Cold Machine: have you had a look at those?
