Re: Yanmar 2GM20F Starting Issues

I'm happy to report that the suggestion of a faulty ground turned out to be the issue. The old wiring harness (40 years) was just inadequate for anything more than the engine instruments. I replaced the positive from the ignition with a 10 gauge and put in a new 8 gauge negative from the starter to the common ground.

I'll be replacing the instrument wiring as time permits, but I can motor again. thanks to all for your advice.

Captbo,
I did see the diagram. Is this the BEORE repair picture or after picture of the repair?
I am not sure how to attach a wire to the white wire.
Thanks for your help!

Re: Yanmar 2GM20F Starting Issues

Hey Bill,
I just snipped the wires at their respective connections near the post and used heat shrink connectors. Then ran them down into the engine. Red on the positive of the solenoid and white on the small post coming off the side of it. Hope the photo helps!
