I only ever have one sheet. Impossible to tack a screecher IMO, easier to furl it, walk the sheet round and unfurl it. One sheet is much lighter and gives better light wind performance which it what it is for anyway. The sheet stays attached and is wound several turns around the furled sail before dropping. Raised with the sheet wound round, gives some control when hoisting from whichever side of the tramp is being used.

Yes, when on the boat and cruising full time. I take the load off the halyard when it is furled, as per the boat builders advice. During the off season, when we typically have a lot of thunder storms I drop it and stow it in a deck locker.

Actually, was a requirement of the marina that screechers are off the boat during storm season. They had a issue several years ago, where a screecher came loose during a thunder storm and took out the mast of the yacht next door...
