Look up Herreshoff's keelboats and catboats - they are often a nice mixture of comfort, safety, large cockpit and very pretty interior. Must be easy to get in Florida.

For those advocating folding Farriers and other such... didn't you notice that his budget is 3000 bucks or less?

Kinda limits the playing field a bit!
