Welcome back, Rebel Heart!

Looking forward to hearing the real facts. Good move to wait for the 15 minute thing to die down.

What a piece of good news from the 'horse's mouth". Safe and sound, kept away from the papparazzi on the good ship USS Vandegrift. Too bad they can't keep you away from the vultures that have been roosting, or should I say Dillowitting?

The only part of your adventure that I am envious of is spending some time with the folks in uniform, on their turf. That must have been momentus.

Best wishes for a swift recovery from the maelstrom that awaits you.

The rescuers (the 129th California Air National Guard and the USS Vandegrift) were amazing; I've never met a better group of professionals.

I totally want to give you guys all the details but I need the media storm to die down. I've been so amazed at the support that the sailing community has offered us. There was a sailboat that came by the USS Vandegrift on our way into San Diego Harbor that had Rebel Heart banners streaming off of it.

I know some people with disagree with whatever actions I took, but for those of you who support me I want you to know that you've warmed my heart. This entire thing has humbled me and I feel an immense sense of gratitude towards everyone involved.

I promise I'll come back with all the details, but we need to get away from the cameras and lose our fifteen minutes of fame first.

welcome back and thanks for checking in
,we got your back here on CF,

Welcome home. Glad to have you and your family back. It's already been said. You never win talking to the press. Go offline for a bit until the dust settles.

Glad you and your family are safe! My condolences on the loss of Rebel Heart. I'm sure your return home is bittersweet, and I hope you can find S/V Rebel Heart II in the near future!

Re: Forum Member's Boat and Daughter in Trouble off of Mexico

Welcome home, and yes keep a low profile. I just watched CBS news on your tragedy, they made a big deal of all the negative criticism, even flashing screen covering quotes. Not one word about all the support you have received. Maybe one negative to one hundred support, but they didn't report that. Screw CBS. What rotten reporting. Try not to let the thrill news hounds get ahold of you, they will surely distort it and when a fire storm starts, it is hard to stop. Stay safe and good luck.

Re: Forum Member's Boat and Daughter in Trouble off of Mexico

Eric, thanks for taking the time to check in. We have all been following the story with great interest, and are thankful for the safe outcome for you and yours.

Sounds like you have the turdnibblers figured out... don't let them get you down, and know that you have knowledgeable and sympathetic friends in the cruising community to turn to if needed for any form of support.

Cheers, and welcome back.

Jim
