Butyl tape prices

I can source 30’ of butyl tape at a local hardware store for $9 or order same quantity / “marine or RV” from marine supplier for $35...
Is there any real difference of one from the other?

I have a giant box that I got from my metal roofing supplier when I built my workshop. It seems to be the exact same stuff I've always used on the boat, and this should last me for several dozen more boats.

There is no definitive spec or quality among different butyl tapes despite how they are marketed. Or priced. Kind of like the “ceramic” car coatings on the market.

Conversely, there is a long and well known history of efficacy with certain traditional sealants which make for more reliable long term dependability.
