While doing upgrades this month: wiring mess, new electrical panel, changing out two AC, changes to 16,5 , mermaids, moving all batteries to starboard and going with diesel Northern Light 9kw.

One other option to look at is a DC generator and a large inverter.
I saw that system on a 65' cat and it worked really well as well as being very efficient.
You need fast charging batteries, so if you are looking at also replacing batteries, than this might be an option.

I have a 7.3 KVA genset and it will not manage to start a diving compressor without the assistance of a soft-start device.
