Plotting of user-determined depths... and possibly depth contours?

I am beginning to collect detailed depth surveys of poorly charted (even unsurveyed) or low-detail coves/bays/inlets here in British Columbia.

Using OpenCPN's VDR plugin, GPS, and the boat's sounder (as well as a portable sounder), and subsequently putting data into GPX files (using a simple app I've written).

I've tried (and failed) to figure out a way to easily plot these depth soundings on a chart in OpenCPN, without a symbol and placing the sounding value directly over (no offset) its lat/long.

I've searched the manual and this forum, but nothing comes to mind.
Is there a way to do this easily?

ALSO: It would be great if there were a plugin that would create depth contours from detailed user-obtained depth surveys (as well as doing the above).

(Sorry if I've missed something obvious.)

Survey plugin (beta) will record from a vdr play of a recording. Not sure if the imprt gpx will work with your files.

I don't see this plugin on the OpenCPN Plug loader.

The wiki indicates it has been "removed for rewrite".

Not using OpenCpn but you might find the Antares Charts website interesting. They have a page on how they make their charts.

sv_pelagia...

Still a work in progress. The thread for the plugin is here:

https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums...-79178-21.html

The GitHub release shown on the last page is the latest available. Tested last night on a clean install. Some of the links to the additional files need updating. Perhaps we could continue the discussion on the thread above.

The link also includes a pdf showing how to use QGIS to make the contours.

Thanks Mike.

Indeed, I already have QGIS instqlled, and last night started to view youtube instructions as to how to make contours.

A slightly different approach but maybe still of interest:

https://depth.openseamap.org/

This is an attempt to build a user sourced depth chart based on open street map. They collect gps tracks with depth soundings and try to put that into a chart.

Some math magic takes care of waves, tides etc. I find it a fascinating idea but I am not sure how active that project still is...
