Re: Help / FAQ

While I'm on, does anyone know how to separate the long list of charts into various areas or countries - the list I have has no separations, just a long list of sequential numbers?

waypoint files

dumb question after all this time using OCPN, but I've been working this winter on routes and waypoints. and it's time to transfer them to the boat's nav computer. where do I find the file(s) of waypoints and routes, so I can copy those files over to my other (boat) computer??

Re: Help / FAQ

riccardo, separate them into folders and load just the folder or folders you want. The numbers are usually the clue as to separation into areas, but of course looking at them in O will fine-tune this...
Opencpn can load a bunch of folders.

BluegillBoy, in OpenCPN goto toolbar/Routemanager and choose "export all" to a memorystick or whatever. It'll be a "gpx" file that'll contain everything as it is. Then import that gpx on the other computer. You can also export/import individual marks,routes,tracks....
The manual that comes with OpenCPN (click the question mark and help) explains more....or here at the top of the forum. Cruisers & Sailing Forums - Announcements in Forum : OpenCPN

PS Opencpn can open gpx files from other apps/devices/friends too, if they have been fairly honest in keeping to the gpx format.

Re: Help / FAQ

Anybody know when the GE plugin will be made compatible with OCPN v. 2.6.1310?

Re: Help / FAQ

Tore,
I don't plan to publish a generally available GE plugin version compatible with 2.6.1310 at all as there will AFAIK be another change in the plugin API in the next beta, out in a couple of days when Dave gets to decent Internet connection, so it's not worth the effort and confusion caused by too many different dlls floating around.
When the API gets stable on the road to 2.7, the updated plugin will be available again.

Nope.

You should see a red line around the image area of the chart. If the center of the screen moves outside this line, it automatically loads a new chart.

Since this is a real-time navigation program, with the GPS on, you should see your boat in the center of the screen. Naturally, if the boat moves off the image area, you need to jump to the image area of a chart that covers the area you just moved to.

So, it is working as designed. I don't know of a way to zoom into the border area.

Re: OpenCPN Australian East Coast Users

I've got them repackaged into a more accessible .zip file version with night color rules edited into them if you want.

Hamish[/QUOTE]

Hamish can you explain further how to add night colour ability to the NZ files please. Thanks.

Re: Help / FAQ

I'm lazy and just can't find this quickly in a search.
Is there a way to change O 's default mark icon? or even the colour? In the ini file, perhaps? I have to change it every time I make a mark, because the default triangle gets lost pretty quick on kaps...

Searching the code a bit, I think that the quickest hack is to rename the desired icon "opencpn/src/bitmaps/triangle.xpm" in the source code, and recompile. Make a feature request in the tracker!

"recompile" -yes that'd be ideal. I wish it didn't get so difficult so fast, if I look this up on a forum! (ie: sudo apt-get and so on doesn't work in my world yet )

Happy..

If you have any .gpx or .kml files you want to change several icon types, you can use Paul's C2KMLGPX utility. Just change his 'Symbold_Map.txt' listing as required first.

Quote:
# This file is used by C2GPXKML to map the symbols of the various navigation programs
# You can modify or change entries according to needs but....
# be sure to put any new data under the proper columns.
#
#ID KML GPX MaxSea Description
#-- --------------------------------- --------------- ------- -------- -------- ----------------------------------
001 paddle/blu-blank empty 000 Empty
002 paddle/blu-square xmblue
003 paddle/grn-blank greenlite
004 paddle/grn-square xmgreen
005 paddle/pink-blank light
006 paddle/wht-blank bouy1
007 paddle/wht-diamond bouy2
008 paddle/red-circle redlite 148

...because LucidPuppy Linux isn't a full-sized ubuntu ...and ...sudo don't apply, apt-get is problematic and different in Puppy,so it's a easier trying the debs and then on to missing dependencies...tarballs that may or may not be the right ones given that there are 10000 versions of everything in linux ...
Not a complaint though. just mewing as I arrange my pebbles 'round.
