XD Video System

I have been looking at purchasing one of these XD Video Systems vs. a GoPro to film my sailing adventures. I wondered if anyone has tried one of these XD's offshore. I am particularly interested in how water resistant they are and thoughts on the mounting options.

Re: XD Video System

I can't find any specs on the ReplayXD1080 regarding water resistance, e.g., IPX6 or IPX7. At least you can get a waterproof housing for the GoPro to bring it scuba diving to more than 30 feet.

Re: XD Video System

Thought I read somewhere that the Replay XD is water resistant not waterproof as in you can splash it but not take it underwater. Someone said it comes out of the box set up in a really low quality video mode and you have to sort through the menu's to put it in high quality / high bit rate mode. There are some video on youtube, I'd use a real camcorder to film my adventures and only one of these as a second POV unique angle type camera, with the go pro at lest you can stick it on the end of a pole and submerge it under water (come here shark), I do like the form factor of this camera better tho but I would prob buy a hd go pro.
