No, your comment is worthless and unjustifiably demeaning speculation towards the OP.

Many people still believe today that rabies treatment requires 20 or more shots into the stomach by some monstrously long needle. While in fact, today’s treatment regimen is typically only four vaccinations (five for immunocompromised individuals) in the arm, plus a dose of humane rabies immune globulin (HRIG).

So relax folks, things have changed over the last 65yrs..

Re: Vaccine requirements for world cruisers

Global health authorities are reporting a significant increase in measles, in 2023, that continues, due, in part, to a decline in measles vaccinations, during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that, as of Feb. 22, a total of 35 measles cases were reported, by 15 jurisdictions: Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York City, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington.

There were also 42,200 measles cases, across more than 40 European countries, last year, the World Health Organization said — a more than 40-fold increase from 2022, which saw fewer than 1,000 cases.

Make sure you've received at least 1 dose of measles-containing vaccine, if you have no history of measles, and were born before 1970.

Hey Gord, starting a new thread with recommended Vaccines for traveling to various countries would be helpful. CF has a great slew of members (like you) that could contribute greatly.

That's my 2 cents, but the OP started this thread with negative overtones. Not asking what vaccines would be beneficial and instead asking, "What vaccines do I HAVE to get"

Re: Vaccine requirements for world cruisers

Will people always need regular [once or twice yearly] COVID shots?

While the general population may not require shots, as frequently as higher-risk groups, it's unlikely there will be recommendations, any time soon, to have a COVID shot less than once a year, given ongoing uncertainty about COVID's trajectory.
Going forward, I suspect for pragmatic reasons, COVID vaccinations will dovetail with seasonal flu vaccine campaigns, just because it makes the implementation much more straightforward.

In the meantime, the guidance around COVID shots remains simple at its core:
Whenever you're eligible to get another dose — whether that's once or twice a year — you might as well do it.

One analysis [1], published in early March in the medical journal Lancet Infectious Diseases, studied more than 27,000 U.S. patients who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus behind COVID, between September and December 2023.
The team found individuals who had an updated vaccine reduced their risk of severe illness by close to a third — and the difference was more noticeable in older and immunocompromised individuals.

Another American research team, from Stanford University recently shared the results [2] from a modelling simulation looking at the ideal frequency for COVID vaccines.
The study [2], in Nature Communications, suggests that for individuals aged 75 and up, having an annual COVID shot could reduce severe infections from an estimated 1,400 cases per 100,000 people, to around 1,200 cases — while bumping to twice a year could cut those cases even further, down to 1,000.
For younger, healthier populations, however, the benefit of regular shots against severe illness was more modest.

OP disappeared because he got the info he needed and had no further desire to engage in conversations that clearly aren't going to be productive. But, hi!

Hi; and welcome aboard the CF, lift.
Those that don’t wish to stay informed, with [related] evolving information, need not follow [this dead-end conversation].
Your observation is, likely, more accurate, than not.

If you say so. It seems to me that you were given a list of countries and their vaccine requirements. What you were looking for was someone to tell you how to work around the various countries requirements.

Welcome to the 21st century. Truth Social might be more up your alley.

Well like you said, I received the info I came for, and like I said, the rest of this can of worms isn't going to taste good for anyone.
