Description: A calm morning to motor around West Point, Santa Cruz Island, headed north here. Often this area is a "potato patch" where currents and conflicting, converging and reflecting prevailing northwest swells cause a sea with confused steep seas. This was a calm morning, which is fairly typical in summer. When it is calm like this it is easy to poke along the cliffs where you can hear the sea lions barking from deep inside the sea caves there.
