Marieholm IF-e

The Marieholm IF-e is a classic cruising yacht with great sailing capabilities. These boats are still very popular and I can understand why. Because of the narrow shape the boat is fast upwind. When she heels over her waterline extends dramatically because of her traditional bow and stern. Inside she offers plenty of room to comfortably stay on board for a few days.

Check out the DIY Yacht Broker link for pictures and specifications.

Our club has two of these and they are great sailers. A bit cramped for cruising and no stand up headroom. Also, hard to fit auxiliary power. Check the pintles and gudgeons for play.

Re: Marieholm IF-e

I just noticed in the photos that she has an inboard diesel. That's a big plus as they look ungainly with an outboard hanging off the stern and the outboard well only fits the tiniest of engines.
Very nice looking Folkboat.
kind regards,

Thanks John. We actually have a few other of these brilliant little boats. You are right about the headroom, but these boats are not big enough to stay on board a long time. Maybe a weekend. They are mostly designed towards sailing and that's what they do well.

They sail very well. There have been many out cruising the South Pacific and a lot of them that have made it here to Hawaii and back to the mainland so they are good ocean boats.

Re: Marieholm IF-e

I never sailed them on long ocean waves, but once on a rough North Sea between The Netherlands and the UK. The sea state is nasty there because of the short steep waves. The Marieholm handled that chop like it was nothing. Because of her narrow hull and subtle entry she goes upwind in those waves relatively comfortable. She is light as well so you go over the waves instead of through like with heavier boats. Pretty amazing little boat.
