Want To Buy: Are you selling your watermaker in Europe

Ideally, I am looking to buy a 230v 2540 single Membrane, simple, manually operated style. Low hours would be nice but broken would also be considered as long as the pump and pressure vessel were ok.
Anyone thinking of removing theirs?
All possibilities considered.

If it is 230v and a 2540 membrane model, I would pay 2500€ if it was in good condition and modular , I would not mind if the membrane needed renewing as long as the rest was in good condition. Aquatec, Echotec etc

I have a modular manual WM 3* Dow SW2540 and a Cat stainless pump 2SF42 with 230V motor, makes 180-200LH.
2 years old, but only 10hr (pickled) - we are in the Med, fresh water everywhere.

You can built a 100L/hr dual membrane system for 1500€ yourself.
It's not as efficient as a Spectra system, but costs about a fifth of it.

It's based on a pressure washer pump, which usually has the shortcoming that the pumps corrode after some time or if they are pickled.
But if you flush the system with freshwater after use and than disconnect the pump and drain it (its a 1minute job with quick connectors) so that it's dry, the pump will last very long.
A dry pump does hardly corrode, especially when used regularly.

Please describe the exact pressure washer that is insufficient for a membrane, as well as the size of a membrane.

There are many pressure washers in existence that have much higher flow rates than my purpose built watermaker.

In general it is accepted that a desalination plant needs between 800 and 1000 psi. This is equivalent to 55-69 bar.

Kärcher, which is one of the most renown manufacturers of pressure washers, states that even its small system K2 pressure washers have about 110bar=1595psi pressure:

Which is way more than the minimum pressure of 800-1000psi required.

Further there are quite a few folks doing it.

I never claimed I do this yet, but I will install such a system this summer. Precisely because it is working for many and, I do not have the cash for a Spectra, which is surely a great piece of kit.

Read the article I posted any you'll see that they use is for quite some time successfully.

A typical domestic pressure washer has a flow rate of about 6-9l min which equals 1.6 - 2.3gal min, pending on the model
You can find that also in the Kärcher manual.
No need to choose the very smallest one.

So this is not far of the Spectra figures.
