Novice Sailor, owns 37 cutter. Crew needed

I'm in Jacksonville and heading for Key Largo soon then possibly Cuba. I have only sailed solo, but want to make bigger passages, with more safety and less stress. I am looking for a easy to get along with crew, with some experience, with a great attitude. Non smoking, quiet and liking dogs very helpful.

hey there,

would consider joining you as crew, if you have a qualified skipper to lead the way.

my 30 ft Allied SW Ketch and I are currently birthed in Fajardo, Puerto Rico. Very nice here too. Wouldn't mind sailing from the East coast all the way to this marina - and the fun stops along the way! lol This is actually a great place to get work done on the boat before heading down island too.

namaste!

Hello MrD, If you've sailed solo on her, I submit that you are her skipper and you'll build the experience with longer passages, such as a Cuba run would provide. Without discussing official schools within sound of a fog horn of you (do they even have fog in FL?), I've been the ASA route through 105, as well am RYA ICC Coastal Skippper certified, and add 5 weeks/3k nm of offshore cruising experience to my CV.
But what caught my eye is the Jacksonville reference, since just last week I now have a "career opportunity" that has me relocating right there in about 4 weeks. I'm completely tied up until then (til Labor Day) - AND I didn't see any timeline reference. so the BIG question is to learn your preferred/intended departure timeframe (?) I recently did Miami to Key West, so I do know the Hawk Channel - normally a milk run, but we did so without an engine due to cooling H2O failure. So my interest is to see the J-ville South coastline.

Re: Novice Sailor, owns 37 cutter. Crew needed

Hello,

I have a Catalina 38 that I sail in the Nuese river near Oriental, have been through ASA 101,102, and 103 in Clearwater Beach. We have friends in the Jax area and I am planning on bringing by boat down there in November and heading farther south for the winter.

Are you still in Jax and are you still looking for crew? If so (or if anyone else reading this has similar opportunities) email me at garthbirdsey@msn.com
