No, not a boat just because she likes it or because you like it. Look for a circa 1974-79 Person
sloop. An older C&C40 would be great. Any well built boat with a lead not Iron
keel and the
mast stepped through the
deck and at the
keel. The lead will enhance the righting moment and the
mast will be stronger. Get a deep keel boat not a "swing keel". Your
draft will be about 6 to 7 feet. By this time most engines will have been rebuilt though the
rigging may not have and if not should be given a careful look for a host of things but best to replace the standing
rigging. A good
dodger and a excellent well plumbed
head. I could go on however will spare you.
Every where you plan on going I have been and promise you that those basics will pay huge dividends.
If a concern about motion sickness I recommend saltine crackers and Perrier
Water which is lightly carbonated and allows the saltine cracker is super bland and the
salt on the cracker helps replace
salt you will be losing. At one time or another everyone feels not so wonderful.
Fair winds and great sailing. Peter
