Re: Window issue

My first guess is that it is tinted plastic film applied to one side of the port glass, and it's pealing. Really, it's hard to say more based on the one photo.

Re: Window issue

Thank you for your comment. The "damage" appears to be inside the laminated windows. No evidence or uneven surface on either side of the glass. My marina tells me it is not a critical issue at this time (strength) but it is not only unsightly but it will eventually need to be replaced.
Is it possible that a tinted plastic film sandwiched between two layers of glass has simply given up the ghost (on two separate windows, pretty well simultaneously?)

Re: Window issue

It's not glass, it's plastic, not critical because they aren't structural or leaking. I've not seen it before but would suggest it may be thermal shock due to your location. Ever had the snow slide off the roof of your truck onto the hot windshield and it cracks ? I have.
So it is cosmetic, repair would be replacement which is rather onerous. I'll attach the pdf for replacement for a c34, you might contact the factory in Florida, they may have additional info. You could also contact Mark Plastics, he's very helpful and may be of assistance.

Re: Window issue

Thanks, Calif.Ted... I have sent an email to Mark. I have already shared the images with Warren Pandy at Catalina and I expect a reply now that he has returned from vacation.

Re: Window issue

Update:
Thanks to Calif.Ted I sent the pictures to Markplastics and I had a conversation with Mark about it. In his opinion I merely have a case of severe crazing that ought not to concern me from a structural/safety point of view (unless I start out on true blue water cruising - and that is not in the nature of my Catalina or myself....). So, a big thumbs-up to Calif.Ted and to Mark of Markplastics for their help with this!
