B&G VHF H50 replacement battery

Hello,

I have a B&G V50/H50 combo and it looks like the handset battery does not hold a charge anymore.

I opened it the handset and it has a 3.7 LiPo battery inside. Is it OK to replace the battery with any 3.7v LiPo battery with the same form factor? (I couldn't find anything with the same exact markings) The battery is 850mAh. Does the replacement battery have to be exactly the same capacity, or can I get a replacement one that is "about" the same, for example 900mAh?

Thank you!

George

Re: B&G VHF H50 replacement battery

The limiting factor will be the physical size of the battery. If you can find one that is the same size, even if it has a higher amp rating, then you should be good to go. I am sure if you do a search on 850mah LiPo battery you should be able to find a replacement. These batteries are found in RC cars and planes, so there should be an abundance available.

Good luck.

Re: B&G VHF H50 replacement battery

Thanks Brian,

I haven't dealt with LiPo batteries, so I'm not sure how the charging circuitry inside the handset will deal with different capacities (ie. how picky LiPo batteries are to different chargers). It *should* be OK, but you never know. Since it's inductive charging, though, the low current should not cause any trouble (I hope).

Hi! Same issue exactly. We’re you able to figure out which battery to replace it with or find the battery with the exact markings?

Re: B&G VHF H50 replacement battery

I was able to replace with this battery:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

however, I see that this battery shows as "currently unavailable".

If I remember well, I had to cut the cables and solder the H50's connector to the battery, since the connectors did not match.

Battery works and charger does charge the battery, however the battery indicator on the H50 never shows the battery as being full. It always shows it with a maximum charge of half full. It does last all day, though, as the old one did the it was at its prime.

Bottom line, I think that any LiPo battery of the same size (603048) and "about" the same capacity, should work. YMMV.

Hope this info helps you out.
