GRP windlass pedastal

I needed to raise my windlass up to be able to pull the chain parallel.

After much design modifications, and mockups and templates, I built a solid GRP pedastal instead of going with stainless.

I still have to paint inside this area as well as modifying the locker lid, but here is how it currently looks.

The GRP is half inch thick. Very excited to finish out this project! Click image for larger version

Re: GRP windlass pedastal

Looks good, I wonder if starting with a pultruded fiberglass I-beam or square bean could have save you time and money

Re: GRP windlass pedastal

Probably would have saved time, I doubt it would have saved money.

I was able to get 6 sq yards and a 5 gallon pale of poly and a gallon of gelcoat for $250. I have most of the gelcoat and poly remaining.
