I really hope that this is not a trend and half of the posts become advertising!
IMHO that kind of trend would devalue the website.
Is this what everyone wants from Cruisers Forum?

There should be a special section for boats for sale by dealer and boast for sale by owner.

It's in the right spot. No need to remove it.

I was just saying that there should be a dedicated section for dealers to post their boats.

I found this in the for sale section and am not offended at all to see it on the forum. Always find it interesting to see what boats are selling for. Makes my old fixer upper and the 100s of hours of labor I put into look better all the time. 0

Anyone that doesn't want to read a for sale ad can just not open that post.

Why the rant on dealers? They often have great boats for sale. No one has the option to buy Factory Direct that I know of.

I just wish I had the 250K to make her mine!

Thanks for the feedback. It is a deal for a new boat. We don't usually have to dicsount a new Catalina very little at all. If you're intersted we can even work with your Catalina dealer in your area.

Stopped by 7-11 and got a ticket today, if I hit I will give you a call.

Seriously though, thank you for posting. I love window shopping the new Catalinas.

Re: 2016 Catalina 385 with self tending headsail Now at dealer costs

Despite the initial gripes, the subsequent explanation, and the conclusion that he had selected the right spot, it was not at all clear to me, and I think others as well. I did a bit of checking, the information may be incorrect or incomplete, but maybe it will provide a framework for those with more knowledge to correct or supplement.

The category selected seems to have been, "Boats for Sale and Wanted." I went to the category by using Forum Jump which is found just after the latest post in this thread. First I noted there had been several posts, in addition to the subject post, all mad today, and many more over an extended period. So YachtBroker had done it correctly.

Now the parts that are entirely speculative on my part. It would seem that posts such YB's would receive far fewer responses if just left as the original post. Some receive none at all. By a methodology completely beyond anything I am privy to, someone or some group ((moderators or?) selects certain posts for additional viewing and commentary (often commentary because it is a way, and may be the only way, of easily being informed of new posts to an item of interest. Anyway these selected posts are sent to subscribers by email (I have no recall of how or when this occurred for me, but I am glad it did). I also wonder if there is a way to knew when new posts on a particular item occur if you have not yourself been a poster to it. One thing that does happen, interest does build activity, and being a selected OP definitely builds the number of replies.

Wish I knew more, but I don't. [here I'd insert a head scratching smilie if we had one]

Re: 2016 Catalina 385 with self tending headsail Now at dealer costs

I have no problem either with posting as it gives me a sense of brand new costs. I buy used cars, houses, and boats so this just reaffirms my decision to continue buying used. Pretty boat, but will continue to fix up my 1978 Bristol.
thnks

Electric Lifter for Head of the Forward Berth. What is this? Cruisers no can't even lift the lid on the head? Remember the days of being self sufficient?
