Arriving with boat on trailer to US from Canada

I am looking for any advice from trailer sailors who have brought a boat into the US from Canada, on a trailer, destined for sailing adventures. We are planning to do this with a MacGregor 26M for a month or two of coastal cruising in Fla this winter - and then trailer the boat back to Canada. I have not been able to find good info about what to expect at the border crossing. Any info or comments to help us be in compliance will be appreciated. Many thanks!
