Garmin GPSMap 742XS NMEA Connections

I am installing a Garmin GPSMap 742XS on my boat. My question is basic and I think I know the answer (yes), but here it is:

Yes. My 740s is hooked up that way. Works great. Only problem is if you have an AIS receiver and transceiver, some devices might get confused and think you're about to collide with yourself. The Garmin doesn't seem to have that issue, but I have another device which does.

Lol im literally doing, and did, this exact chore today in the thread below. You use the blue/ grey wires from the Garmin NMEA 0183 cord to send GPS coordinates to VHF. Then you hook up your 2k network normally.

I also patched in my older raymarine st60+ network with the Seatalk converter to get all my instruments on the Garmin as well.

I have the 942xs but same thing.
