Hi from Karratha - Western Australia

Hi all! Greg (Wolfy) & Colleen from Karratha, Western Australia. Love reading all the posts as we renovate our Endeavour 28 for sailing to the Montebello's and northern islands around WA. If any of you guys are sailing around the Indian Ocean and need somewhere to anchor up for a while, give us a shout. We have a dry pen in the Hampton Harbour (Dampier, WA) which your welcome to use for defouling or repairs.

Welcome aboard, Wolfy, and good luck with the refit on your boat. And thanks for the offer of the "dry pen"... but I dunno what that is! Could you elaborate a bit, please.

Enjoy your time here on CF.

Jim

Greeting Greg and Colleen. I just watched a documentary on the Montebellos. Sensational cruising ground with a huge history. Good luck in your travels.

Re: Hi from Karratha - Western Australia

Hi Jim,

Our dry pen is a spot we keep our jinker (a boat stand with wheels). It's used for defouling, painting and repairs. It's good for up to a about a 35 foot yacht. To put the boat on it, we tow it down the boat ramp at low tide and leave it there, then at high tide we motor the yacht to the jinker then wait for the tide to go out again, then you tow it out and park it in the dry pen. Also good for getting the boat out of the water in preparation for a cyclone (which we have one on the way at the moment).
