Willard Before and After Interior

Hello

Just had to post some before and after pictures of my beloved Willard. The poor thing had a pretty grungy, grimey (30 years worth), smelly interior. Now she is elegant with light and curves!! Some of the guys on the dock have given me so much grief about the interior (it is the built in PlayStation 3 they object to). You know, when you are redoing a boat, you have to do what you can. There are months when you cannot afford the larger ticket items, like rebuilt diesels, new wiring, new bowsprite and those are the times when I sand and refinish. Anyways, here are some before and afters. This is more about happy than brag! (least I like to think so!). She is becoming what she once was, and that is wonderful to watch.

Sounds silly, but use a good dust mask! I did so much sanding with 220 grit, that I had a major asthma attack (first asthma issue ever at 51) and almost had to be hospitalized.

1 part flattening agent (Interlux) and 3 parts interior semi-gloss Interlux with 320 grit sanding in between a couple of coats. I did not use a brush. I sorta soaked a clean rag and rubbed the stuff in. I kept getting little brush marks here and there and it pissed me off, so I switched to a soft rag and a latex glove.

I hate being lazy - I know that with 100 hours of sanding and varnishing we could really spruce up our interior. I hate being lazy ;-(

That is truly nice work. I think I had a Lesiure Suit in the 60's with that old fabric. You have humbled me into starting on my own (not as big) interior refinish.

Beautiful job!! I especially like that you replaced the can of WD 40 with some good booze!
All kidding aside it looks worth all the hard work
