Greetings from La Paz BCS

Hello, It’s nice to meet you all!

My son Max and I are sheltering from COVID19 in La Paz, BCS. I am blue water boat shopping! Hoping to make some new friends here and get some guidance as I look for the perfect boat. I’m looking at a Hans Christian 38T. I haven’t decided yet and am open to any and all suggestions.

I want to keep it under 40 feet and be able to reasonably single handle it. Room for an extra hand important too. I am definitely going to need some help at times. Needs to be solid Bluewater capable. We’re going to live and sail on it for a long time!

My son Max is 19 and an artist with Down Syndrome. Getting the virus would not be good… We both love the water and sailing. We are going to cruise the next few years away. Eventually we’d like to cross to Hawaii and sail home to British Columbia. We are Canadians!

I look forward to talking to all of you on here. You can read about us on our website

Thank you and stay safe!

Maria and Max

Re: Greetings from La Paz BCS

Maria and Max, welcome to CF from England.

Can't help with the boat but good luck and when you are able to take some time to view lots of boats in person before deciding.

Have a solid escape plan from Hawaii. Not a welcoming place for cruising sailors, and easy to get trapped. Fly in and be a tourist when there is no pandemic and they will welcome you.

Enjoy La Paz. The cruising community there is great. Listen in on the morning net for the activities.
